Fuzbaby Gallery: Wool Appliqué Fuzbomb Covers & Blankets
March 2001
Right from the start, I intended to use wool as a canvas for colorful images. We use 100% wool felt for our appliqué. This design was one of the original four main designs for which I created a complete sample book, which travelled with me to each local show. I have even used these original designs for a recent wool painting: a leafy Autumn tree on a wool diaper cover auctioned at Random Eclipse.
Because of the time it takes to create hand-sewn appliqué and the production numbers, we tended to make Diaper Garden wool designs less complex.

Gold Fish Fuzbomb
I believe these were our first auctions of appliquéd wool. We had been peddling these designs locally, but this was the online premier.
Lovely flat-bed scanning, don't you think?

Teal Fish Fuzbomb
Before selling appliqué covers, I created a series of these fish and washed them by different methods. Even the heavily machine washed fish survived well. The design felts to itself a bit and becomes fuzzy, but it still gives the feeling of FISH.

Appliqué Wool Blanket
The combination of soft cotton back and warm wool front made this a perfect warming winter afternoon lap blanket. It was good for baby, too!

Wool Watermelon Blanket
This was a special order by a customer who absolutely HAD to have a watermelon diaper. I understand that need, but it wasn't possible. This particular fabric wasn't idea for diapers. So, I offered the blanket. She became one of my long-term, most wonderful customers. Her newborn is wearing our diapers even now.
