Fuzbaby Gallery:
Elemental Air at Random Eclipse,
Winds of Change
March 2007
Together with a group of women who produce some of the most elaborately decorated cloth diaper and cloth sets available, I joined Random Eclipse. The auctions are occasional and somewhat unpredictable, like a random eclipse.

Elemental Air Fuzbomb
I wanted to make an Elemental Air Fuzbomb, so I got out all of my wool swirls in the yellow-orange-green colorway to see what fit best.
I ended up with every swirl on the cover because I got distracted. I like it. The let gussets are lemon yellow, the back gusset, creamsicle (why all of the food names?), and the trim marigold, all to extend the colorway and lighten up the chartreuse body.

Elemental Air Flappy Fitted Diaper
Pushing the theme of Winds of Change, I decided to try something I've been wondering about. How do I help a Fuzbaby fitted diaper dry more quickly?
I experimented by pulling the soaker out of the diaper and attaching it just at the front. This makes a nice, 3-layer soaker that can be folded together with the doubler to put a lot of absorbency exactly where it is needed.

To celebrate the Winds of Change theme of this Random Eclipse, I got together with another maker of art diapers, Laura of El Bee Baby (that's L.B. as in Laura Baldwin). We've been buddies for a long time. When she asked me five years ago whether she should start her own diaper company, I said, "Absolutely not!" Many times since I've reminded her that I told her so. But, here we are now, Fuzbaby and El Bee Baby both thriving diaper art businesses.
Laura and I decided to go with the Fuzbaby Elemental Air theme and make our change a swap --- her diaper with my cover, and my diaper with her cover.
We introduced our collaboration:
Not so long ago, Fuzbaby lived in the southern Great Lakes, and El Bee Baby lived in the northern Rocky Mountains. Things change. We traded places. El Bee Baby is now in the northern Great Lakes, and Fuzbaby is in the southern Rocky Mountains.
Each winner received one package from Utah in the US and one package from Ontario in Canada. |

I would also like to point out that the midday desert sun in so-called winter is not kind to light colors.
Air diapers wanted to be photographed up in the air. I'm sure of it.
Wash out.
So, in the diapers go to our made-up studio with a tie-dyed sky from an old Diaper Garden set.
