Fuzbaby Gallery: Sun & Moon Cover
September 2008
Together with a group of women who produce some of the most elaborately decorated cloth diaper and cloth sets available -- as well as some other great additions, I joined Random Eclipse. The auctions are occasional and somewhat unpredictable, like a random eclipse.

Sun & Moon Wool Diaper Cover
For each Random Eclipse, the members are suggested with a theme. For this Fall Equinox, the time of days' balance between light and dark, the theme is Light & Dark.
If you are here, you probably know I like to play with elemental and astronomical themes.
See the Fall Leaves diaper cover, also playing with the balance of seasons.

Play with Light & Dark
A fiery sun has similarities to our Elemental Fire theme. The moon here also has rays. If you look closely, you may notice that I've used tiny leftover pieces from our Diaper Garden Ice Star for moon rays. Yes, I keep absolutely everything until it can be used.
Do you see moon rays? Sometimes I think it might just be my bad night vision.
NOTE! Stacey Biddle is the sharpest Fuzbaby fan around. She knew the moonrays were the off-cuts from the Diaper Garden Ice Star cover before we posted that fact above. |

Black & Blue
I love the play of black against a cool, crisp light blue like our Sky Blue. It's so sharp. We don't often used commercially dyed wool anymore, but we pulled out a piece of black from the old days. (OLD days of maybe 5 years ago.)
In natural light, the blue of the diaper cover actually looked nearly the same color as the needles of this blue pine tree in our backyard / golf course. |

Light vs. Dark
I don't think of this as "versus" so much as balance, but "versus" is the Random Eclipse theme.
Looking at this image in particular, I can't shake the old Star Trek. Anyone else? Do you see why I would say that? |

Subtle Solar Flares
Wow, it's tough to see in the day's fading light, but there are sewn solar flares that reach out beyond the flames to the front wings of the diaper cover. |

Cool Sun
If it's possible to have a cool sun, this is one. I let go of some of the warmer colors available for the applique in order to create a harder contrast between the cool blue and the solar flares. |
