Fuzbaby Gallery: Donations: Real Diaper Industry Association

September 2009 & October 2010

In addition to my work with the cloth diaper charity, Real Diaper Association (RDA), I was one of the founders in 2008 of the cloth diaper trade association, Real Diaper Industry Association (RDIA). I represented small manufacturers on the RDIA board 2008-2011 as well as being Secretary (2008-2010) and Director of Communications (2010-2011).

When the time came to give out awards at our second annual meeting in 2009, we wanted an award that would surprise and delight the recipients. We wanted them to think "cloth diaper industry" rather than "chunk of plexiglass." I was asked to create appliqued wool diaper covers for recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the association, and Service to Real Diaper Industry Association. For those who received the Outstanding Contribution award, I used the colors of their business logos. In October 2010, I was asked to do the same again.

It wasn't my plan to make these myself, but I loved the idea of having one of the industry's artisans create a keepsake for those who do so much for the cloth diaper industry. I gave in to a little light arm twisting.
